26th Kerala Science Congress 28-31 January 2014.

The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) annually organizes Kerala Science Congress, to revitalize Research and Development (R&D) in the state and to identify new talents in scientific research in Kerala.

Kerala has made substantial efforts to strengthen its science base in science education and research, through the various activities of KSCSTE and by its R & D Centres. In almost every key sector, whether it is agriculture, forestry, fisheries, industry, transport, environment, energy or material sciences, there are top class institutions undertaking research relevant to the needs of the state. Every sphere of science as well as the different phases of research – basic, strategic, applied and adaptive - is being addressed by the Universities in Kerala and the research institutions in the state. The science congress will be a platform for interlinking the research community and for expanding the knowledge base for the society in general.

Kerala Science Congress serve as a platform for interaction and exchange of ideas among scientists and young researchers working in different parts of the country. The 26th Kerala Science Congress will have several sessions for providing opportunities for intense interaction and knowledge sharing. Scientists and scholars will deliver talks on specified themes and research papers selected by the referees will be selected for oral presentation. Invited speeches, participant presentations, general papers, contest papers and posters in the identified subject areas will be included in different sessions. Special attention will be given to encourage young researchers by providing State Young Scientist Awards, Best Paper Awards, Post Graduate Student interaction programme and Children’s Science Congress.

1.Research papers presented on 12 subject areas.

2.Effective interaction among academicians, researchers, professionals and decision makers from Kerala State and outside.

3.Review the present status of R&D efforts in Kerala and critically examine the outputs.

4.Encourage in-depth discussions on the special theme selected and to develop necessary strategies for its implementation.

5.Identify integrated and coordinated research programmes to optimally utilize resources.

6.Formulate strategies for better utilization of scientific and technical manpower.

7.Encourage talented young scientists of Kerala to contribute towards development of Science and Technology.

8.Felicitation of the state level winners of the Children Science Congress.

The 26th Kerala Science Congress will be held at, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU), Wayanad, during 28-31 January 2014. Wayanad is one of the beautiful districts of Kerala and is land of mist clad hill stations, sprawling spice plantations, exuberant greenery and mystic landscapes and is the abode of some of the oldest tribes in India.
