Personal service, a high gastronomic standard, individual
travel programme and excellent interiors: you will experience this comfort on
the newcomer to the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises fleet in a modern and casual
atmosphere. As a new building and our second flagship EUROPA 2 will be heading
for the most attractive destinations in the world as from May 2013.
Nearing completion at the STX France shipyard in St.
Nazaire, the 42,830-ton Europa 2 will be christened May 10 in Hamburg, Germany.
With a crew of 370, this ship’s passenger-crew ratio is a pampering 1.4 to 1.
Official languages spoken onboard are English and German.
The route concept concentrates on four regions: Western
Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Arabian Peninsula and Asia. In fulfilment
of the wishes of our guests these will be shorter, mostly seven-day voyages.
Many routes will be offered on different dates and can be combined flexibly to
form longer, fantastic stays on board.
The interior concept follows current design trends and is a
successful mixture of casual and stylish ambience with state-of-the-art
technology. Hardly any other ship offers more space per guest as EUROPA 2
since, after all is said and done, well-being is also measured in square
metres. For this reason it goes without saying that all the suites on board
EUROPA 2 have a spacious veranda. Life on board sets its own standards: more
lifestyle and less cruise rituals contribute towards a more informal
atmosphere. The low number of passengers of max. 516 guests and the crew/guest
ratio that exceeds this figure ensure that exclusiveness and relaxation are
guaranteed from the very first moment onwards.
Besides culinary diversity and luxurious surroundings,
wellness, fitness and a multi-facetted entertainment programme are the
highlights of EUROPA 2. All these features can be enjoyed in a relaxed
atmosphere and, of course, at the unique high standard that you expect of a
ship that proudly bears the name EUROPA.Experience the new way of enjoying
luxury in a relaxed ambience. We look forward to greeting you on board MS
EUROPA 2
Upscale clients will soon have a new luxury ship to consider
for a cruise vacation. Next month, the 516-passenger, five-star Europa 2 will
set sail as the newest flagship for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, a European cruise line
working to attract more English-speaking customers from the United States,
United Kingdom, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Hapag-Lloyd’s strategy for growth is to focus solely on
luxury and expedition cruising. Europa 2 and Europa operate in the five-star
luxury arena, while Hanseatic and Bremen are the line’s expedition vessels. The
company also operates Columbus 2, but does not sell that product within North
America.
The Insider’s Viewpoint
Travel Agent interviewed Julian Pfitzner, director of
product development for Europa 2. He’s the key Hapag-Lloyd point person
handling the Europa 2 project. Akin to being a proud papa, he says with pride:
“She’s a beauty!”
Architecturally, “the idea of this vessel is classical
luxury architecture but you open the window and you let the fresh air in,”
Pfitzner says. What he means is that this ship shakes things up a bit in its
design.
“Everything which was brass or copper is now stainless
steel," says Pfitzner. "Everything which was gold is now silver.
Everything that had rounded shapes is now very straight and rectangular.”
